tension rods

Are tension rod thread sizes standard between most manufacturers? Or are some metric threads and some American Standard and do they vary in thread size. Basically I have a vintage Ludwig that has tension rods that are approximately 3 1/8 inches in length that I'm having a hard time finding them.
